Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) – Valizea Tours & Expedition

1. General Information & Booking& Process
What exactly is the booking process?
The path to your adventure is simple and completely transparent:
  1. You fill out the digital registration form (booking request) on our website and submit it as a binding request.
  2. Within 48 hours, we will review your details. Once successfully verified, you will receive your official booking confirmation, including an invoice for the deposit and the mandatory EU insolvency protection certificate directly via email.
  3. Upon receipt of the documents, the 30% deposit is due within 7 working days. This will firmly secure your spot.
  4. The remaining 70% of the tour price is not due until 60 days before the official tour start in March.
How exclusive are the groups at Valizea Tours & Expeditions?
We focus on a pure VIP character and maximum safety. Every tour is strictly limited to a maximum of 6 riders. Only in such a small group can we react flexibly to trail conditions and enjoy the untouched nature far away from mass tourism.

Is there a minimum number of participants?
Yes, our expeditions are guaranteed to take place with a minimum of 4 participants. If this number is not reached (which is very rare due to the small group size), we will inform you at least 120 days before the start of the trip, and you will receive a 100% refund of your deposit within 14 days.
What are the rates and payment terms?
We make it simple for you: there are no hidden costs with us, but rather an all-inclusive premium package for every continent:
  • Asia Tariff (Sófia ➔ Ulaanbaatar & back): €24,990.00 (All-Inclusive)
  • Africa Tariff (Nairobi ➔ Cape Town & back): €27,990.00 (All-Inclusive)
Upon receipt of the booking confirmation, a 30% deposit is due. The remaining 70% is not due until 60 days before the official tour start.

2. The All-Inclusive Carefree Concept
What is actually included in the all-inclusive tariff?
In short: Everything except your personal souvenirs.
The tariff includes your international flights, the provided Honda Transalp, all fuel for the entire route (approx. 7,500 km), all visa and ferry fees, full board including all non-alcoholic beverages, as well as guaranteed single rooms (where possible) in all hotels and exclusive single yurts in the Mongolian Ger camps.
How am I covered in case of damage (excess)?
In the all-inclusive tariff, you enjoy absolute freedom. Your excess for riding-related falls or accident damage off-road is reduced to €0.00 (zero euros). You do not need to provide a cash deposit at the start location. Vehicle damage is fully covered by your tariff.
What happens in the event of a breakdown or accident on the way?
You ride "light" and agile, without heavy luggage on the bike. Directly behind the convoy follows our fully equipped 4x4 support truck, driven by the expedition leader. The vehicle carries your main luggage, a mobile workshop, spare parts, tires, and emergency medical equipment. Should a motorcycle fail completely, we have a backup system to ensure your trip continues without delay.

3. Routes, Logistics & Requirements
How does the Caspian Sea ferry work on the Asia route?
The crossing from Azerbaijan to Kazakhstan is a real highlight. Since these cargo ships do not have a minute-by-minute scheduled timetable, we have deliberately built in a 3-day buffer period in Baku in our route plan. While we handle the logistics at the port, you can relax at the hotel. A waiting time of up to 5 days is part of the expedition character and is managed confidently by us.
What requirements apply to me as a rider?
You must possess a valid Class A motorcycle license and have solid riding experience on heavy motorcycles. Since we will be tackling demanding off-road stages (gravel, sand, mud) at times, you should bring good basic physical fitness and genuine team spirit.
Is there a ban on alcohol during the tour?
Yes, absolutely uncompromising. Safety is our top priority. From 10 hours before the start of a daily stage until the stage destination is reached, there is a strict ban on alcohol (0.0 blood alcohol level) and any narcotics. For safety reasons, our guides are authorized to conduct random spot checks if there is reasonable suspicion.

4. For Passengers ("Join the Expedition" Tariff)
I want to ride along with my own motorcycle. What does that include?
For a one-time fee of €4,000.00, you can join our convoy with your own self-organized adventure bike. This includes experienced navigation by our guides, the use of our safety net in the outback, and the transport of your main luggage in the support truck.
What do I have to take care of myself with the "Join the Expedition" tariff?
In this tariff, you are entirely self-sufficient. You organize and pay for your flights, accommodation, ferries, and fuel yourself. The complete procurement of all visas, customs documents (e.g., Carnet de Passages), and country-specific motor vehicle insurance is also entirely your own responsibility.

5. Accessibility & Tracking
Can my family and friends see where I am?
Yes! Our support vehicle is equipped with a high-end satellite system with Iridium and Garmin inReach. Before the tour starts, you will receive an exclusive live tracking link from us. Your family back home can follow the entire expedition in real time on an online map – even deep in the Mongolian outback or the African bush, far away from cell phone coverage.
6. IMPORTANT NOTICE REGARDING MEDICAL REGULATIONS & VACCINATIONS
As our transcontinental expeditions lead through geographically, climatically, and bureaucratically demanding regions away from standard infrastructure, adherence to health entry requirements is mandatory. Please take care of the appropriate vaccination protection early (at least 3 months before the start of the trip).

Route A: Central Asia (Sófia ➔ Caspian Sea ➔ China ➔ Mongolia)
  • Mandatory vaccinations (compulsory):
    • Yellow fever certificate if previously stayed in endemic areas: No yellow fever vaccination is required for direct entry from Europe to China or Mongolia. But beware: Should you have been in a yellow fever endemic area (e.g., parts of Africa or South America) in the 6 days prior to entry into China, proof of a yellow fever vaccination in the yellow vaccination booklet is strictly required by law for China.
  • Strongly recommended vaccinations for the China & Mongolia leg:
    • Standard vaccination protection: Review and refresh of tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis (whooping cough), and polio.
    • Hepatitis A and B: An absolutely indispensable protection, as we will be using local gastronomy extensively in the rural provinces of Western China and Mongolia.
    • Rabies: Strongly recommended for this route. Rabies is widespread among wild animals (wolves, marmots) and stray dogs in the vast steppe regions of Western China (Xinjiang) and Mongolia. As a vaccination cycle takes several weeks, early planning is important here.
    • Typhoid: Recommended for adventure travel through regions with sometimes inadequate drinking water and food hygiene in Central Asia.
    • TBE (Tick-borne encephalitis): Important for the forested areas and long grass steppes of the northern Mongolian route.
  • Additional note on China (Health declaration):
    • Chinese authorities use state-of-the-art thermal imaging cameras at land borders (e.g., at the crossing from Kazakhstan to China) to measure body temperature. Participants with an elevated body temperature or obvious symptoms of infectious diseases may be isolated or denied entry by Chinese border security.
Route B: Trans-Africa (Nairobi ➔ Cape Town)
  • STRICT MANDATORY VACCINATION: YELLOW FEVER
    • For entry into Kenya as well as for the subsequent border crossing into transit countries, proof of a valid yellow fever vaccination in the international yellow vaccination booklet is legally required. Vaccination protection must have been administered at least 10 days before the start of the trip.
  • Malaria prophylaxis (Strongly required for your safety):
    • The route passes through malaria-endemic areas. Carrying and taking a malaria medication for prophylaxis (e.g., Malarone) regularly is mandatory for all participants.
  • Further urgent recommendations for Africa:
    • Hepatitis A & B, typhoid, polio booster as well as meningococcal and rabies.
